Annual SHUR Conference Offers Undergraduates from Across America Intellectual Opportunity and Southern Charm

SHUR Conference 2023. The History department will be welcoming undergraduates from around the nation and abroad to Starkville on April 21-22 2023 for its annual undergraduate research conference. Now in its second decade, this marquee event gives students the opportunity to present their original research in a professional conference-setting on panels chaired by Mississippi State's award-winning history faculty. This year's event will include a keynote lecture by renowned diplomatic historian Dr. Lauren Turek (Trinity University), and the department will provide food on Friday evening and Saturday, in addition to arranging lodgings in a hotel adjacent to campus. The spring weather in Starkville and the various cultural and culinary offerings that this charming Southern university-town has to offer will be on full display. The conference is intended as a serious introduction to the rhythms of professional research, presentation, and debate: faculty will be available for consultation in the hope that conference-presenters will go on to do masters- and doctoral-level work at nationally-regarded institutions. Those interested in attending should see the attached CFP and send their abstracts by February 15 to shurconferencemsu@gmail.com
