I am a second year MA student from Pembroke, North Carolina. I received my bachelors degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where I double majored in Religious Studies and History. My primary field is United States history, specifically the modern U.S. South. I am interested in how racial identity is crafted in rural spaces, and how it reaffirms itself through the lens of the Jim Crow era. Particularly interesting to me is how African Americans and Native Americans navigated contentious places in the American South. My minor field is East Asian history.
